I have always liked this painting. I was using your stacked books to show a student how to put words on objects that aren't words, but just suggest them.

Have you seen this site? http://ruskin.ashmolean.org/welcome

Dear Kit,

I gather that you just spoke to Tom Tacik about the materials, etc. We will be working primarily in oils. I have, in the past, made exceptions for some watercolorists, but oils would be preferable.

Best wishes, and buon lavoro,
Ephraim

Hi Eph,

I am about to sign up for this workshop in Florence. Will we be working with oils or can we work with other media such as acrylic or pastel? Costwise, is it better to bring art supplies or purchase there? your advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

It is fine if you have only had experience painting the figure indoors. In fact, it's time for you to get outside! Painting plein-air will expand your color/value range and teach you a lot about space, air, and light, as well as about objects.

The workshop is not yet full, so you can still register. Looking forward to working with you.

Best,
Ephraim

I am interested to know whether you had to have had prior experience in painting landscape and buildings. Most of my experience has been in portrait and figurative painting, in a studio.
Also, is this trip full at this point? If yes, I would like to get on a waiting list in case of a cancellation.
Thank you,
Stacy Balmuth
